Instead of conventional main and wide-angle mirrors, this system operates with digital cameras and displays. The transmission is sent directly to two monitors for the driver. The unobstructed diagonal forward view significantly enlarges the field of vision and increases safety for the motorhome crew.

Overtaking, parking, driving on narrow roads and negotiating curves – all of this can now be managed more safely and with less stress.
One camera mounted on each side of the roof frame, mechanically foldable forwards and backwards for protection against damage, provides the sharp eyes of the MirrorCam. The system also includes two vertically oriented monitors mounted on the A-pillars inside the cab, as well as easily accessible control elements with multi-touch display functionality as part of the user-friendly equipment. In real time, the camera images are transmitted to the two 15.2-inch monitors with a resolution of 720 × 1,920 pixels. Analogous to conventional mirror systems, the monitor image is divided into main and wide-angle viewing areas.

MirrorCam and turning assistant

Especially in complex traffic situations and confusing intersections, the interaction between MirrorCam and the turning assistant has proven its worth. The turning assistant warns the driver in multiple stages if there is a potential danger to cyclists or pedestrians when turning right. The optionally available active side turning assistant can even initiate automated braking at turning speeds of up to 20 km/h to help prevent accidents. The visual warning indicators are displayed directly on the MirrorCam screen.
